After the Crest War wiped out many noble lines throughout Fódlan, the families were desperate to find distant relatives to be appointed as the new head of a house. Rhys was appointed the new Margrave of Gautier because he was Sylvain's third cousin, even after having been raised his younger years in Sreng. He attended the Officer's Academy and participated in the Officer Strike Forces hand picked by the queen to handle the conflict against the Remnants of the Agarthans. Peace has once again returned to Fódlan and Rhys must now return to his margravate and handle the growing tensions between the state of Faerghus, particularly his land, and Sreng, as they wish to reclaim what they lost. Rhys is conflicted where his loyalties should lie. Should he surrender to his birth land or defend his new responsibility and home?
