⁰¹ Suffering Avenue

Street signs, buildings stand tall.
Will you appear in the midst of all?
Echoes of yesterday, tales etched in stones.
In this avenue of anguish, my hope feels unknown.

You used to hold my hand,
I used to lean on your shoulder.
When we choose to neglect what's matter,
We pray for time to go slower when we're together.

In this desolate road,
You're used to be mine.

Now it's hard to walk,
So I run away.
Got lost in a loop,
In Suffering Avenue how long will I stay?

This endless maze,
Some sort of paradox with a touch of hypocrisy.

For I still want your flashbacks,
The day you left me in this street.
I still hear your voice in repeat,
And the way you yell as you push me down on my feet.

I'm still holding to your memory,
Even though it's killing me.
Because it's all I had,
Am I supposed to be glad?

For I asked for rain but this is too much.
For I wished for pain but not this much.
