She lay in bed

Her heart heavy with pain

Tears streaming down her face like rain

Unable to love herself

Feeling lost and alone inside

The weight of the world on her shoulders

She felt like she was growing colder

Her own worst enemy

Her mind would say

No escape from the darkness that held sway

She cried herself to sleep each night

Trying to drown out the inner fight

Wishing for a glimmer of hope

To help her climb this slippery slope

But in the darkness she found solace

A quiet peace in the silence

And though the tears may still fall

She knows she can rise above it all

She holds the key

To unlock the chains and set herself free

To love herself flaws and all

And rise like a phoenix
