"We need to go by the house before the window closes," I whined to Marcus who side eyed me.

We weren't too far from the exit we'd need to take to get to the house from here, and I didn't want to miss it. In all honesty I could've waited until later, but something was telling me to do it now while we were out. I had a feeling one of my tired spells I'd been getting lately was going to hit me hard once I got to the house.

"Nah for what?" He said shaking his head making me groan in annoyance.

He was only acting funny because he caught me kissing Matteo, and he wasn't all that thrilled about it. He wasn't thrilled about any of this, but he was here for me through it which was all that mattered. It was safe to say that Marcus was the last person on board with anything. When I got back to his house after staying with Clem and Papa for hours on end he had his suspicions on my whereabouts. In the sake of trying to keep clarity on as much as I could, I fessed up about all that was happening before he even asked.

Surprisingly enough, he didn't fight me. He didn't ignore me either. Instead, he told me that if I specifically needed his moral support or saving he was there, but in the most clear cut words he let it be known that he was not stepping in to clean up Matteo's mess. I could tell it was a fight for him to make that choice, but he had to create separation for himself and the sake of our relationship.

In order to salvage both he knew that separating himself was the only choice to make because as I told him, my mind was already made up. He didn't forgive Matteo, but it wasn't for him to forgive and he understood that. As long as he would be there for me, I didn't have the mental capacity to care about his grievances towards Matteo. One day it would be on them to clear that air and when the time came for them to do that if need be I'd be there long after all this mess was over.

He kissed my head, wished me luck, and then left out of the room without another word. Around the house things weren't awkward much to my relief. Mama came over since I stayed with Marcus, and we acted in even more peace around her. It was as if behind closed doors I wasn't orchestrating all of the essential strings of an entire mafia organization. However, things did get murky when sitting down with Kat and Clem after a transaction day we discovered that the money and drugs shipments being made were short on our end coming from Marcus.

When he floated into the house we told him what we had found, and he instantly took us back up to his trap considering he'd been the one to do the transaction with Enzo that day. We'd already had our suspicions on Enzo, but once that evidence came to light we knew we'd hit the nail on the head, and Marcus decided to jump into the fight. Even he knew that if it weren't for our due diligence the type of war that could've occurred on his watch during the time he was trying to leave the game behind completely would've been disastrous.

Once the pieces fell into place, we scheduled the meeting today just yesterday evening. During the overnight hours, we found the men hiding amongst us who Enzo had managed to convert to his side and take them out. It was tiresome and dirty work, but I had it with all the support I had behind me: Marcus' hating ass included.
