Huge thanks to prisha_8 for sharing me this song. And letting me know it reminded her of "Kristan"! It has translations so you'll understand it if you don't speak Hindi. And to my beautiful and awesome readers there in India, Hiiiiii! 👋 And now to the story...

Kylie

Avoiding Christian had been ancient. Well, at least it was until he started being more than just a jerk who likes getting into my nerves. I would have avoided him until I grow gray and old. And I definitely wouldn't admit I've been a hurt a little. I will deny it with my dying breath. I can't make him think that – he's cocky enough already.

I'm not sure what avoiding might makes me look, but I hope not hurting. Stung, yes. But hurting? I'll rather drown. And why should it matter how I hold my ground? I could just say I don't care in front of his face – after a few practices on the mirror first.

"Kylie, are you sure you don't want to see him?" Jessica climbs onto my bed. "He's knocked like three times already and I've given him different excuses."

I shake my head. It's been difficult enough to avoid him at work. I've glued myself to Audrey's side at all times, so I don't have deal with him.

Audrey was growing suspicious but prefer not to say anything.

"Donut holes?" She offers a brown paper bag.

"No, thank you," I murmured quietly.

Jessica opens the bag and popped two donut holes to her mouth. "So, why are you not talking to lover boy?"

"Nothing."

She nods. "You just feel like it?"

"Sort of I need to."

"Why do you need to not talk to your boyfriend? He screwed you over?" She asks around a mouthful of doughnut holes.

"He's not my boyfriend. And he didn't screw me over," I murmured. "It's just me."

"Oh, crap. You have feelings for the playboy?"

I rose to my elbows. "No."

She raised her brows.

I sat upright. "Okay, fine. Maybe, a little."

"He's trouble."

"I know." I sighed.

"How deep are you in the trouble?" She shifted so she's facing me.

I hesitated.

"Don't worry I'm not going to blab. I never get invited to any parties anymore since my friends started pushing out live human beings into the world. They said I'm a bad influence around children. Audrey and Kathie would argue with that though."

I smiled.

"So, why are you not talking to him? You know, you're going to see him tomorrow anyways."

"No. I asked for the day off. I need to be somewhere." I always asked for a day off on the same day every year. I was hoping the days off Audrey was spoiling me with lately won't stop me for getting one tomorrow.

Her red hair brushes her shoulders as she nods. "You're not going to murder him, are you?"

I chuckled. "No. I need to go to my family's death anniversary."
