Being corrected is thought of as an insult by some people because they must have had experiences of personal attacks and rejection in the past, which forms the natural mechanism of defensiveness in them. As a result, when constructive criticism is directed to them, they would immediately consider it to be an insult. Another reason why being corrected can be considered as an insult by others is one's misunderstanding that his or her hard work is not being accepted, when in reality constructive criticism is given because people appreciate one's capabilities and want them to become better in what they are doing.
