Robert Sullivan

I am a former journalist, traveller and English teacher who has been writing science fiction and other genres since the age of 13. Growing up in rural Australia, I dreamed of becoming a writer in the vein of JRR Tolkien or Frank Herbert, and I envied their ability to create epic masterpieces and deeply immersive worlds. Later on, while attending media studies, I became exposed to concepts like postmodernism, philosophy and mythology. I also lived in Japan for 10 years and a developed of love of Asian cultures and doctrines such as Zen Buddhism, animism and Cosplay. I believe that we are living through the era of the "simulacrum" as described by Jean Baudrillard, and that our only salvation is to embrace "seduction" as a counterweight to "production", the endless stockpiling of capital in a capitalist economy.
