chapter 8~ Is this a trick

I ran inside my house
What just happened out there
I don't understand I've been preparing my heart for rejection for months
I don't get it
Is this a trick
What's gonna happen tomorrow at school
From the time I started learning about mates which was two years ago I thought I'd get rejected but instead of rejection I got acceptance? no maybe its a prank yeah it has to be I laughed its a prank who could possibly want me "ruby, sweedie are you okay" my moms gentle voice came from behind me

"Um yeah mom I'm okay, just tired I'll go rest" I said and ran upstairs into my room
I closed my room door and threw myself on the bed as soon as my body hit the pillow I felt a sudden wave of dizziness I had to blink twice because the room was spinning

After a few moments it had stopped I got up to go take a shower

I strolled inside the bathroom and closed the door

taking off my clothes I heard my mom's voice from downstairs"Honey, dinner's ready"

"Coming mom I'm in the bathroom" I shouted

I started feeling a dizzy again like I was about to faint I held on to the face basin to steady myself I felt weak

I stood there for a while hoping this feeling would go away eventually I felt a bit better

I took off my clothes and got in the shower to scrub myself clean

I sauntered out of the bathroom and got dress didn't have the time to comb out my hair now I just wanted to sleep

I ambled downstairs taking my time to reach the dining table I wasn't feeling very well when l got there mom was already sitting and waiting for me

"Mom I feel sick I'll just skip dinner and go rest I ate before I got home so I'm good" the last part was a lie I haven't eaten in days but I didn't lie about the first part

I know we haven't been eating dinners together and I've always wanted that
We'll eat together another time

"Ruby wait, I know I didn't get to give you your birthday present I had it but since you ran out I didn't get to give it to you, when I got up this morning you were a sleep so I wanted to give it to you now and say that I'm sorry, I shouldn't have brought James over and as soon as you feel better I wanna know how your change went " she came up to me and gave me a gift rapped box

"Thanks mom" I smiled and hugged and kissed her

"You're welcome baby, now go get some rest" she smiled

"Okay mom I love you"

"I love you too"

I ambled upstairs and into my room I put the box carefully in my closet and got on the bed I didn't have the strength to open it right now

Soon after I fell in a deep slumber

I woke up with a splitting headache

What's wrong with me?

I looked at the time and it said 2am

I trudged downstairs to get some medication which includes a pill for my headache and water I went to the sink and got some water
I walked over to the cabinet and opened it I took some pain pills for my headache that should stop it right?

After taking it I went back upstairs and as soon as my head hit the pillow I was out

I woke up at 12pm feeling even weaker than I felt yesterday at least the headache was gone

I looked at my phone to see a text from devin that said call me at lunch
I dialled him and he picked up on the second ring

Devin: hey girl
Me: hey
Devin: I'm coming back to school on Monday, 6 days from now it took some convincing but I did it, can you believe my mom actually wanted me to switch schools
Me: she just wants you to be safe that's all
Devin: anyways my boyfriend is taking me out for dinner he's so cute
Me:have fun
Devin: wait where are you?
Me: home
Devin: are you sick do you want me to come over
Me: no devin go enjoy your date and I want details okay
Devin: okay girl I'll talk to you later
I ended the call and walked into the bathroom trying not to fall on my ass
I couldn't manage to stand up the room was spinning
I trudged back out of the bathroom and into bed I wasn't even able to take a shower all I wanted to do was sleep
Is my body shutting down because of my wolf's rejection?

Maybe I should take one more head ache pill I trudged downstairs and took more medication for my headache

The room started spinning again I fell down on the floor and that was the last thing I remember

I opened my eyes it was hard to make out where l was l blinked a few times and realized I was on the couch how did I get on the couch maybe mom came home early? I was getting up when l heard a deep voice

"How are you feeling?"
That's not mom

"I feel so drained" am l dying
Maybe it'll be a good thing if I died I looked around to see a tall figure my vision wasn't all that clear but when I blinked a few times I saw who it was and it definitely wasn't mom "allassandro" I blinked again making sure that he was really there

I jumped up with the little strength I had in me "how did you get in here I'm sure the door was locked" didn't mom lock the door?

"I came here because you weren't at school and we needed to talk when l got here and rang the bell there was no answer but a faint heartbeat inside I thought someone must've passed out or sleeping I was gonna come back later but my wolf told me to come in then I saw you on the floor " he said coming to sit beside me
I scoot over I'm really not use to boys being this close

"I've called the pack doctor he'll be here in a few minutes"
Pack doctor!! no no I don't want anyone to know my wolf rejected me it will be so embarrassing

"Um you've done enough thank you, I can take it from here please call him and cancel"

"I just wanna make sure you're okay" he insisted

Before I could come up with another excuse the door bell rang
He got up to see who's at the door

He came back with a short bald headed man in a black suit

"This is Bryan Johnson our pack doctor, Bryan this is ruby dreams my mate" he introduced us

He introduced me as his mate!!!

"Ah, ruby nice to meet you" he said with a heart warming smile

I smiled "nice to meet you too"

Allassandro then explained to him that I had fainted

"So ruby have you been experiencing dizziness" he asked I contemplated on whether to tell him the truth or not I decided I'd go with truth
"Yes"
"Mhmm" he responded opening his brief case and started some tests

He checked my pressure then stood up "well" he started off

Oh god this is it, everyone will know my wolf rejected me "seems like ruby here hasn't eaten in days" he said "just keep her fed other than that she's healthy" he smiled

Huh? That's it well okay

"Thanks Bryan, if that's all you may go"
Bryan left
"I'll be right back just need to make a call" he also left

He came back and sat down beside me

"Ruby....why haven't you been eating" he said in a gentle voice

"I'm allergic to food?" I said hoping he'd believe me

"Ruby" he said "let's try that again why haven't you been eating"

I sighed and focused my eyes on the ground "if you haven't noticed, wait of course you've noticed" I let out a bitter laugh "l'm a fat girl I get teased a lot I was just trying to lose a bit of weight" I said still looking at the ground I felt so embarrassed I couldn't even look at him
