I walked into my office after a long meeting and slumped in my chair.

"Ma, Mr Chikwem scheduled a meeting with the photographer for that interview he was telling you about" my assistant Mary walked into my office, files in her right hand and her left on her hip. I looked at her

"Why am I having his meetings? What exactly does he pay his assistant for if I'm still having his meetings and running his schedule? Can't anything be done without me in this office?" I fumed.

This man should not let me curse him.

I stood up and left my office, headed straight for the elevator. Mary has seen a lot of my outbursts and knows exactly where I'm headed so she knows stopping me is impossible so she didn't even try. I pressed the button and the elevator opened. I got in and pressed the last floor.

How can this man be over working me? I do my job as the head of HR, and I'm doing his assistant's job.

The ding of the elevator brought me back and I walked out. I went straight to his office and his assistant stood form her table

"Ma you can't..." I raised my hand silencing her and walked straight into his office.

He looked up and smiled but when he saw my expression he sighed

"I know. My assistant is supposed to do that not you. But you know I trust you more with my meetings" he smiled at me. Obviously, he was actually expecting me, but I am angry.

"Sir that is why you should get an assistant that you trust. You are putting a lot of pressure on me. I need a break from doing her work. I have a lot on my table already but still you call me for your schedules, to attend your meetings, to even do things around the office. Sir you are taking advantage of our relationship and I'm not enjoying it anymore. I won't be doing your assistant's job anymore. It's either you find a capable hand or I just quit. You can't keep stressing me out" I ranted and he panicked

"No no no my dear please you can't quit. I promise this is the last time. I really value our relationship just don't quit please" he begged and I took a deep breath.

We both know his wife will kill him if I quit.

"Okay sir I won't quit but please fire that girl or you send her to another department. She makes the smallest mistakes in simple things and she has been your assistant for what? A year? Please sir I won't take it again" I stared pointedly at him and he nodded

"Point taken" he replied then I sat down on the chair opposite his table.

"Now you remember to sit down. How are your parents?" He asks and I laughed.

"Same as always. Mum reminding me that my sisters are taken while I'm not even in a decent relationship, then setting me up with all her friend's sons and dad keeping quiet about it. You know the usual" I replied and he shook his head

"Why won't your mother let you have peace and she's always complaining that you don't go to see her" he mused

"I wonder why" I reply dryly and he laughed.

"You haven't been home lately. Doris has been asking about you and blaming me for stressing you like this. Maybe you should come over for lunch this weekend" he closed his laptop, placing both his hands on his table.

Doris is his wife and they have been doing the job of my parents more than my parents.

"Oh God. I have missed her and yes you are to be blamed because you are stressing me. I'll come over for lunch during the weekend. The photographer, when am I supposed to meet him?" I asked
