It's been 3 years,
Since you've been gone
Left me with your memories being burnt.

2 years,
Since I finally got closure
And realized that you and I weren't meant to be closer.

1 year,
Since I shattered the vases in my living room,
Because I finally realized, that you didn't ever want to be mine, what a fool.

Half-a-year,
Since I felt what you felt every single day
Smiling, but breaking inside day by day.

It's been 6 years,
Since I last saw you
Wishing that I might run into you.

5 years,
Since you said "I love you"
But I didn't reply, do you remember too?

4 years,
Since my imagination went wild and I said let's jump into the ocean
When we both knew I wouldn't ever do.

4 years and 1 day,
Since I never jumped
And I didn't lose you, but God, that was enough to almost make me say those three words.

It's been 3 years and 1 week,
Since I saw you die
When you broke your promise,
And I realized that we weren't meant to be.

2 years and 1 day,
Since I realized that I don't need you in my life
So I might as well let you go, isn't that nice, honey?

It's been 1 year and 1 hour,
Since the vases in my room got replaced with memories of you
No longer shattered, but carrying mighty gloom.

It's been half-a-year and 1 minute,
Since you left me
Without a word, without a breath.

And darling,
It's been 3 years and 1 second past 2,
Since I realized that with my bare hands,
I was the one who killed you.

-about-

written: july 18, 2021

I wrote this poem because I had the first line running through my head. Then midway, I imagined the last one, so the entire poem came about.
Like I've said before, I really love last lines, and most of the times, I get it midway writing a poem.
This poem isn't only about a romantic relationship, it can be about any person.
If you've already not noticed, the person here is obsessed with the second-person to the point that they killed the second-person because they both ended their relationship and it wasn't bearable for them.
It's a bit dark, but I like this poem because of the words and the storyline.

-anyways, thanks for reading, people!! do vote and comment if you liked it-
