Waiting to be Happy

My tea has gone cold, but
I'm still drinking it.

I have only gone out of bed to
walk my dog, eat, and go to the bathroom.

Not always worth the effort to change my underwear

and put on the pajamas I've been wearing
for the past two days.

Who am I trying to impress?

My laptop might die in the next few minutes.

Is it worth it to get out of bed and get the charger?

Almost.

I admire the determination of my corgi
jumping up on my bed, joining me again.

Her showering of affection makes me smile
my first smile of the day.

I momentarily forget my envy of her life;
I'm the one spoiling her.

I think it's one of the reasons why she is so
effortlessly happy.

She's napping beside me right now as I watch

a YouTuber specializing in the "strange,
dark, and mysterious".

Some dark jokes make me smirk. A chuckle even escapes.

Nothing more unless I find something more lighthearted.

The feelings are brief.

I need a hit of dopamine,
but I'll settle for serotonin.
