Taking in deep breaths you savoured the rich smell of food in the well lit streets. The Spirits were trying to act as if everything was ok in the world.

Which it wasnt.

For the past day and a half you had been practicing your new shifting power. To say the least it was going pretty well, you were getting faster, growing accustomed to the feelings and the pain had greatly lessened. That spirit whom had been your shadow for so long had receded into the darkness of the Bath House. Only thing to be heard, were the slight rustles or crunches as spirits ate and drank their fill.

The wind tousled your long hair as you looked out at the moonlit sea, you couldn't help but smile, knowing the circumstances but still craving the quiet moment life so rarely gifts you. Sighing, you went back to work, you focused on your feelings and the hope that was ever growing in your mind and felt the tearing sensation of your ligaments realigning to become the giant creature that you were now. Looking around at this height gave you a new outlook, everything was different. In a good way of course. You stared at the doors, holding your breath, walked forward towards the dark unknown. You knew the house like the back of your hand and would be able to navigate your way with your eyes closed, but with the Shadow spirits, everything was different.

You pushed open the doors with your large head, making sure to bend slightly to not hurt your horns. Stepping quietly into the silence you glanced left and right. Satisfied, you walked in, using your tail to close the door behind you as quiet as possible.

Sneaking your way through the halls and searching silent rooms you kept your ears alert for a sound or indication of Haku. Anything, that would lead you too him. These past few days had helped you perfect your senses. It was so much easier to coordinate this body than one would think. In fact, you enjoyed this form much more.

You found that you were in the dining room for staff, the table was smashed and plates were destroyed, food was decorating the walls and floors. What once was a source of calm and joy, now sat in tatters and ruins.

What a mess...

Stepping carefully over the debris you managed to get to the exit door which led the way to the sleeping area.

As you sneak along the wooden floor a loud creak plays from beneath your paw. Rustling sounds from behind you making you go stoic.

Oops.

I hope everyone is enjoying the book so far! As i'm editing I am only now noticing how short the chapters were. It's crazy to think my first book took off the way it did. And for that i'm always grateful.
