My mind was scattered. I couldn't find the right words to say or prepare myself enough for what was to come.

There's no right way to tell the guy you've known your whole life and have liked forever that his best friend, your brother, is secretly sleeping with his girlfriend.

Jax would never forgive me.

I should have told him the second I found out but then that'd mean turning my back on Hunter. I didn't know what to do in this kind of situation.

I sat on my bed watching my phone ring. I was unable to move, I felt my whole world come crashing down. I didn't know what I would even tell Jax.

Jax: Helllooooo
Jax: Emma, please I need you right now.

Sighing, I run a hand through my messy hair and groan in frustration.

He needed me.

I needed to come clean.

I'll be right out.

I send the message and quickly put on a sweater and my slippers. I prayed the whole way to the door that Jax would understand why I kept this from him.

There was this thought in the back of my mind that questioned why he would be hurt if he cheated on her before.

Still, Hunter is his best friend. Nothing about this is right. They had a rule to not mess with what's theres.

Hunter crossed that line.

Standing outside, I stood behind Jax as he sat on the porch stairs with his hands on his face leaning against his knees.

"Jax." I breathe out.

He turns around in a swift motion, letting out a sigh of relief when he sees me. He pats down for me to sit next to him and I do so, letting the cold surface of the ground come in contact with my legs.

Silence filled the dark streets. All that could be heard was the sound of Jax's intense breathing and my heart pacing against my chest.

"Did you know?" He finally speaks.

I sigh, pressing my lips together. I wasn't planning on lying to him but right now that was all that was on my mind.

"Know what?" I say.

"Don't lie to me." He scoffs. "I expect Rebecca, my dad, heck even Hunter to lie to me... but you." He stops and looks over at me, fixing his posture. "Don't lie to me, Emma."

I fumble around with my hands for a while, gathering my words before speaking. "Yes."

"Yes, what?" He questions.

"You know what, Jax." I look at him.

"I need to hear you say it." He replies.

"Yes," I hesitate, not wanting to tell him the truth. "I knew about my brother and Rebecca."

Quickly, he gets off the porch and walks down the stairs. He stomps around the driveway, not knowing what to do or where to go.

"Why?!" He yelled.

"Jax, you're going to wake up my dad." I begin to say. "Just...can we talk about this tomorrow-"

"Fuck that." He cuts me off. "I need the truth now."

I get off the stairs and walk over to him. The sound of my slippers sliding against the pavement made him look up at me, sending goosebumps down my spine.

I bring my hand up to his cheek. "I wanted to tell you."

"Bullshit." He spat. "How long have you known?"

"Jax," I sigh.

"Don't Jax me. Tell me, I can handle it. I've had everyone in my life lie to me and use dumbass excuses. Let me hear yours."

"About a month." I tell him.

He moves away from me and I bring my arms to my side, not sure what to do with myself.

"I wanted to tell you, okay I did but I didn't know how. If I told you I'd have to betray my brother and if I didn't..." I trail off.

"You'd betray me." He takes the words out of me. "Don't worry, I got the message."

"I didn't tell you because it was the only way to blackmail Hunter into letting us be friends." I quickly say.

He scoffs in disbelief and stomps over to his car. Unlocking it, I stop him from opening the door and immediately block his way with my body.

"You know," He begins. "When Rebecca told me she had been seeing Hunter behind my back I didn't believe her. I mean what kind of friend would do that? The entire way here I thought of forgiving him. That was until I thought to myself well, Emma couldn't possibly know, could she?"

I shake my head, biting down on my lip. "It was the only way to be with you."

"That's not an excuse."

"You said you wanted to be with me." I say, my eyes flowing with tears.

"That was before I realized what a liar you are. You're just like everyone else." He snaps.

"Don't pin this all on me," My lip quivers. "I'm not going to let you blame me." I snap. "You know maybe if you actually kept your dick in your pants maybe Rebecca wouldn't feel the need to cheat on you. After all... karma's a bitch."

He scoffs, looking me dead in the eye. "If I remember, you were the one taking this dick."

My heart dropped as he mentioned the memory of us in the car, me cradling his lap. I was taken back that he would use that against me.

"Fuck you, Jax." I spat, moving away from him car. "Just go, I don't even care anymore. You're exactly like your father. Always running from your problems."

The second those words left my mouth I instantly regretted it. I had used his situation with his family against him. There was nothing I could say to make up for that.

"Excuse me." He pushes past me and gets into his car. He turns it on as it roars to life and quickly speeds out of the driveway.

I stood outside stuck in place, too afraid to move. How did Jax and I get to this place? Why was I ever put in such position?

This wasn't how things were meant to go tonight. Everything was falling apart.

Sunday morning I was awoken by the sound of Hunter's screaming voice coming from down the hall. I was in and out of sleep that I could barely make out what he was saying or who he was talking to.

Just as my body relaxed into the warmth of my blankets a loud bang came from down the hall, jolting me right off my bed.

I ran half asleep to the kitchen to be greeted by emptiness. The sound of pounding came from the living room and I rapidly made my way through the dining room.

"Hunter!" I yelled as soon as my eyes laid themselves on Hunter's body on the floor, an angry Jax on top of him.

"You fucking jackass!" Jax yelled. "So much for best friends, huh?"

Jax continued to punch on Hunter's face, colliding his fist with Hunter. I rushed to their side, struggling to pry Jax off of Hunter.

"You're going to pay for what you did!" Jax yelled. "Stay the hell away from Rebecca!"

Oh, how the tables have turned.
