I get a new writing assignment in San Antonio, TX, mainly to write about the fun things to do there and great foods to eat. I haven't been back in California for more than a few days with Queen and Simone, and already I feel like I'll miss it all over again when I leave

"You're going to Texas?" Simone asks, sliding spinach dip my way

"Yea, the writer they had cancelled due to a family death" I shrug, "I head out tomorrow"

"That's when I leave for Cuba" Queen frowns, "Still sucks you can't come"

"I know, but we are creating plans to go to Greece together, remember?" I shrug, taking a chip out of the chip bag, and dipping it into the dip before tossing it in my mouth. We've been planning a trip to Greece for the past few months, and I honestly cannot wait to get a break to go

"Yea" Queen nods, "I guess it's good timing that I'm leaving tomorrow and so are you"

"True" I nod, it really sucks that I can't stay but I'm getting $2grand off this story and couldn't pass that up, "I mean, at least I get to spend the rest of the day with you guys and have dinner with the family"

"True, mom says she's cooking 'that good stuff'" Simone uses hand air quotations on the last part

"I love mom's cooking!" I laugh, "she makes great food and you both know it"

"True, but she's so dorky" Queen laughs

"Oh and you aren't?" I laugh

Even though we don't have the same parents, we basically are sisters. I've been adopted into their family, and my family has adopted them. We've known each other for so long that I feel like I can't remember a day we didn't know each other. Kindergarten with these two was always fun, especially with them being twins and all. We'd be in so much trouble all the time, they tried splitting us up and nothing helped

"Leave me alone" Queen laughs, tossing a chip at me, "I feel personally attacked right"

"You should, Dork Wonder" Simone laughs, popping a dipped chip in her mouth

"That's it, I hate both of you" Queen leans back in her chair, throwing a chip in her mouth, "also, Adonis asks if you can pick him up from school on your motorcycle later"

"Why does he want a ride?" I ask, raising my eyebrows

"He doesn't think we're cool enough to pick him up" Simone laughs, "he wants you to show his friends he has a cool sister"

I laugh, shaking my head and looking at the time, "I guess I can pick him up from school"

"Please say embarrassing shit to him" Queen smiles, "you know he hates that shit"

I do know, but I'm going to do it anyways. I love messing with Adonis like he were my own brother, "Deal"

I get to Adonis' high school right as he gets out of classes. I wait for him to walk out before I wave him over to me, taking my helmet off

"Adonis, let's go! You have that puberty appointment to get to!" I yell to him, causing him to shake his head and slap his forehead, "we can't be late or they will have to schedule you for another day!"

His friends around him burst into laughter, smacking his shoulder. He looks embarrassed, but he'll recover

"Wow, Kat!" Adonis shakes his head, running over to me "when I asked for a ride, I didn't think you were going to embarrass me"

"Gotta uphold the sister tradition of a lifetime" I laugh, handing him my extra helmet, "let's go"

"Nice bike" some random kid walks past us, "Is that your sister Adonis?"
