Emerie continued to rocket down until she landed in a heap with a muted grunt, her hands just barely able to break her fall. Cricking her neck, she pulled herself and groaned inwardly. There were definitely going to be some bruises coming out of this.

“This better be worth it,” she growled under her breath, rubbing her arms. It was slightly chilly in here; wherever here was.

It was pitch black and cold which meant that there was only one thing she could do.

She grinned like a mad idiot, forming a flame from her bare palms and a whoosh swept over her, a wind brushing through her hair. She was in a large room with rectangular metal lids dotting the room a little with cute doorknobs on it. She wondered where the Elder meeting would be held.

Passages led from inside of the strange room and she couldn’t help but explore it, the flame her glowing light and source of heat. Her footsteps were quiet as she padded along the chilly, eerie concrete corridors.

Voices caught her attention and she immediately turned sharply at the next corner, the passages growing narrower for her to step through, causing her to side-step along it.

As soon as she reached the end, she was relieved for the reasonably large amount of space and found another bronze metal lid with a doorknob with the voices floating through from it.

Putting out her fire, she opened the knob and peeked through it. She was hidden. That was the first thing she knew and noticed.

Somehow a tapestry had been taped over her peeking hole but the threads were thin enough for her to see through, even a small hole that showed a clear sign of abuse on the tapestry.

“Will the meeting come to order?” someone said loudly, standing up. She didn’t know this Elder but the power and authoritative stance he had labelled him as one. The murmuring voices ceased and the Elder was clearly pleased at the order.

“First of all I want a report on her status,” the Elder said, clearing his throat which caused his voice to echo hollowly throughout the cosy room.

Her? Emerie thought curiously. Who’s that?

“She is excelling in all her classes; something half of us expected and half of us doubted,” an Elder said proudly.

Damaris Hartley.

Emerie’s eyes widened in shock and immediately clamped a hand over her mouth to prevent her from screaming out in surprise. Why would she do that? Emerie did not know but she had a feeling that she wouldn’t be able to keep quiet if something weird happened.

“Not to mention all her Elements are being mastered,” another said quickly, brushing his long blue dreadlocks off his shoulder. “I am really impressed at her progress. At first I thought that she wouldn’t be able to grasp the concept of her powers but in fact she has proved all of us wrong.” Her Element Strategy teacher!

There were murmurs of agreement travelling through the room and the Head Elder nodded his golden hair in approval. “Anything else?”

“She shows great potential,” a Time Guardian Elder said aloud, slicking his purple hair back. “But her Elemental powers are her main target. We should teach her how to use her Time and Destiny skills rather than just using her Elements.”

The Head Elder raised a perfect eyebrow. “Is there something wrong with her using her elements Elder Nelms?”

The Time Guardian shook his head, taken aback by his words. “No I am suggesting that if she is to choose an Element soon, she should have the opportunity to experience all the Elements in order for her to pick the right one.”
