Today was the day that I was leaving my childhood home behind. My parents decided that they wanted to be closer to my nan, as she was getting older.
"Jess, darling it's time to go" my mum said from behind me, i turn around and she's standing in my door frame giving me a sweet smile.
I nod and pick up the last box and start walking past her but quickly turning to face her.
"Mum, please tell me I don't have to sit between the twins!" She giggles at me then shakes her head.
"Sorry baby, who else will keep the boys from fighting?" I sigh and nod my head while frowning.
As we walk to the car I hand my last box to my dad. I walk over to the car to see my brothers already in their seats.
"Ollie, can you get out for a second please so I can get in?" He nods and gets out of the car.
Once we're all seated my dad pulls out of the driveway. Well this is goodbye old life and hello to a new life.
------hours later -------‐
We pulled up to my nan's house, we all climb out of the car and the boys go help dad with the boxes, me on the other hand sneaks away to see my nan.
As I walk into the kitchen I'm greeted with the smell of her famous lasagna.
"Hey nan, how are you" i say as I wrap my arms around her giving her a hug
"Jessica darling! I'm great sweetie! How is my favourite granddaughter?" I smile at her and give her kiss on the cheek.
"I'm good nan, I'm also your only granddaughter!" I say as she goes back to cooking
I start to help her, by cutting the tomatoes for the salad. "Thank you sweetheart but why don't you go check out your new room, I got some builders to turn the attic into a bedroom it also has a bathroom!"
I smile and give her another hug, " your the best!" I say as I start to run off then I stop and walk back and put the knife I was chopping with down.
"Good idea sweetie we don't want you lose with a knife!" I laugh at her joke and run off again shouting a quick 'I love you' to her.
I run up the stairs and look around to see a new set of stairs that wasnt there last time we visited.
I walk up them and there was a door ason as you were at the top. I slowly pushed open the door to reveal a small but cozy room with a bathroom attached. —————- "Emma, she's a sweet girl." My Nan said catching my attention. "She's just had a tough life and she is coping the best she can."
"Linda, she was smoking and dressed like a slut!" My mum groaned as she grabbed her glass of wine.
"No, you don't get to judge Dani until you know her." Nan said as she glared at my mum.
"Who are we talking about?" I asked as I was so confused.
"Daniella, she lives across the street and your mother doesn't agree with her lifestyle but why don't we just leave it be and enjoy our dinner." My dad buts in before starting a new conversation about how he was going to redesign his and mums room.

After dinner I went to my room and unpacked all my things. Getting frustrated when my fairy lights kept falling.
When they finally stayed in place for more than 10 minutes I couldn't help but smile.

Maybe life here won't be so bad, I didn't have many friends back home so it's a fresh start for my last year of school.
Hearing a noise outside, I moved to the window and I looked outside to see a girl sitting on the sidewalk smoking.
I don't know why but I couldn't help but stare at her, she was beautiful.
She looked up at me like she must of felt eyes on her.
Feeling like a creep, I quickly walk away from the window.
I got changed into my pyjamas and got into bed, grabbing my laptop, making a note to get my dad to set up my tv tomorrow, also to build my shelfs.
Tomorrow is the last day before I start my new school, so I want to make the most of the rest of the summer and stay up watching crappy movies. ———————— Edited on the 3/1/2024 uk date
