16 : a secret

"He likes her and not you..."
Hwayoung muttered sadly for almost the ten-thousandth time while she laid her head on the table.

"He likes her and not-"

"Hwayoung, are you alright?"
The teacher called out when she noticed Hwayoung looking overly exhausted and stressed out.

"Y-Yeah."
Hwayoung's voice croaked as she plastered a fake smile on her face.

"Okay. If anything, do inform me."
The teacher said and continued teaching the class.

- Flashback: ( 26/08/21 ), Thursday -

"What are you doing here..."
Hwayoung got startled slightly when she saw Jake waiting outside Jungwon's front gate.

"Oh- Hi there, Hwayoung!"
Jake greeted with a bright smile and was about to place his arm around her shoulders but, she moved away uncomfortably.

"What do you want?"
Hwayoung's voice went harsh.

"Hwayoung, do you want to go on a date with me?"
Jake asked casually but, Hwayoung did not even look surprised at all.

What the actual fuck-

"No, thanks."
Hwayoung rejected and walked away.

"Okay, let me rephrase my question."
Jake regained his composure and tried to stop Hwayoung but, she just kept walking.

"Can we have dinner together?"
Jake caught up with her before she was about to get into her car.

"No."

"Come on!"

"No."

"If you are coming, I will tell you a secret about Jungwon."
Jake suddenly let out and that sentence of his made Hwayoung stopped moving.

"What?!"
Hwayoung raised her eyebrow in suspicion.

"If you join me for dinner tonight, I will tell you Jungwon's secret."
Jake gulped and repeated.

"You sure?"
Hwayoung hesitated.

"Definitely."
Jake reassured her.

Right now, Hwayoung's mind was just in such huge confusion that she could not even think straight.

"I can't join you tonight, what about tomorrow?"
Hwayoung asked.

"Alright then!"
Jake excitedly beamed and walked away.
