1. You can tell how bad the braise is by the color. If it's green/yellow/brown it's not really that bad. It should go away within a week or so. Purple/blue/black bruises are more severe and will hurt to touch and will stay longer.
2. Bruises don't show up right away, they usually take about a day or so to appear.
3. Not all bruises hurt. If it's green/yellow/brown, it likely won't hurt. If it's purple/blue/black it will hurt a lot more. Sometimes it doesn't hurt to touch, but it does it you move around a lot.
