Blood is thicker than water, or so they say,
A bond that's supposed to last, come what may,
But sometimes blood can be tainted, impure,
And family can be the ones to hurt you, for sure.

We're taught to put family first, above all,
To always answer their beck and call,
But what happens when the blood runs dry,
When the ties that bind, slowly untie?

For some, family is a source of strength,
A safety net to catch them, at any length,
But for others, family is a weight,
Dragging them down, and sealing their fate.

Blood may be thicker than water, it's true,
But it doesn't guarantee a love that's true,
For family can be the ones to deceive,
And the bonds of blood can be easy to cleave.

So let us not judge a person's worth,
By the blood they share, or their place of birth,
For family is not always as pure,
And the love of strangers, may be the cure.

Genre: Poetry/Reflective

I wrote "Tainted Blood" as a reflection on the idea that blood is thicker than water, but it is not always as pure. The poem explores the concept of family bonds and how they can both strengthen and harm us.

We often hear that family is everything, and that blood ties are unbreakable. However, the reality is that family relationships can be complicated, and not all blood connections are healthy or positive. Sometimes, we have to find love and support outside of our own families.

I hope this poem encourages you to think about your own experiences with family and what it means to have strong bonds with others. Remember that while family can be an important source of support, it is not the only one. We all have the ability to form meaningful connections with others and find the love and support we need to thrive.

Thank you for reading "Tainted Blood", and I hope it resonated with you in some way.
