Aaradhya ~

Why would Rajan give me a blade, that's also inside a locket . The locket was beautifully carved with gold fillings and in the shape of a flame of a candle. The unique features of this small thing were holding a big ability.

I slowly opened the front lid and the small blade pushed came out from the shell of the locket. But the back of it was like another mystery as it can't be opened easily.

"Don't try to open the back of it." He said in his dominating voice.

"Why 'Rajan'?"

"Because it has poison."

"Poison? Why?"

"That is for self defence. I got it from my grandfather."

"Why are you giving it to me?"

"I want you to protect yourself. I don't believe anybody. This will help you when no one is there to protect you and once this blade penetrates the skin with the poison holding inside, that person will die instantly. Keep it with yourself every time."

"How can I keep such a poisonous thing with myself every time? It's dangerous. I can protect myself in a different way , you don't have to worry."

"That poison will never affect you. Open the back lid now."

I opened it and saw a little button inside it.

"What is this?" I asked out of curiosity.

The curved hollow space was specially designed for holding the button. I tried to push it but Rajan held my hand tightly.

"That button holds the poison. If you push it then the poison will get to the blade and if you stab that poisonous blade to anyone then that will be his last day. I haven't used it till now. It's only for emergency. The poison can be renewed but the more it stays the more poisonous it becomes." He said in his deep voice and sighed.

"Why did your grandfather give this to you? Is it also your birthday gift?"

"No, it wasn't my birthday gift. I was very scared to become a warrior in my childhood. What if those sharp swords cut my fingers. That's how I used to think. Also I used to stop everyone from going to any war and was scared of losing my close ones. One day my grandfather gave it to me. I didn't accept it at first and reacted like you. But he told me it is a lucky charm and will protect me . That little thing boosted confidence in me . He told me even if he die, he will be always there with me and this is a memory of him. I am giving it to you so that I can protect what's mine. Just hold it when you feel alone and scared."

His every word touched every part of my heart. The eyes he was holding during telling me those childhood memories of him , reflected how he miss his grandfather till now.

He was handing me over his most precious thing ever. Not because it was of gold or to protect me but it was related to his grandfather's.

Suddenly my stomach grumbled for food and I got embarrassed. I didn't eat anything from the morning as I was excited inside.

I aggressively wanted to know where he was taking me even though I was not in a good mood.

He smiled looking at me . He closed both the lids. The sharp edge of the blade which was glazing in the light instantly became a lovely looking locket.

He dragged me to another beautifully decorated room. I didn't know particularly from when I started to express my every emotions to him. Even if I don't, he used to understand everything. In my anger also I was only thinking about him. It's like my existence is a lie without him.
