Chapter 44, Milkshake Date
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
" I don't normally like giving people second chances but you weren't just anyone, you were my best friend. "
~ Scarlett's POV ~
As we arrived to our diner, we went so frequent that it had just became ours now.
We sat down at a booth and ordered milkshakes, my mind was on Layla however.
I didn't want our friendship to end, I wasn't ready for the friendship to end either.
Jaden could tell I was thinking about something but he didn't dare speak up about it in case it was about my mom.
Our milkshakes arrived and I had decided to order another one, Jaden smiled and kissed my cheek as he took a sip from his milkshake.
We took photos of the milkshakes and had a great time, although I loved sharing moments with him, I wasn't distracted.
"Let's post these photos and then we can leave to watch Criminal minds."
Jaden suggested, I nodded and kissed his cheek as posted the photos.
Coralreef: ooo, was it good?
^^ ScarHead: Indeed it was
I smiled at Jaden and now it was my turn to post the photos, I unblocked Layla and let her stay unblocked.
My heart was racing at the fact I would be giving her a second chance to prove me wrong, maybe something happened to her on set and she was worried I would judge her.
All these thoughts running through my head bothered me, I shrugged them off and posted the photos.
ScarHead: I wonder whose the third milkshake for hmm 🤔
Onwardjdub: that's what I'm wondering
Jaylawaltonofficial: hmm, thinking rn
^^ Coralreef: I think I know.
Coralreef: Scar, no.
Onwardwanna: For me!?!
^^ Onwardjdub: no, go away.
Jaden looked at me confused, he had already asked me three times who the milkshake was for but I didn't give him an answer.
Instead, I kept changing the topic to what he's passionate about because it would keep him busy and he would stop asking me about the milkshake.
Soon we left the diner with the milkshake in our hands, we arrived to my house but I told him I'd be right upstairs.
I left my milkshake on the counter and grabbed the vanilla milkshake, I walked over to Layla's house and knocked twice.
As I waited for a response, my legs tense up as my heart began to race.
What exactly was I planning on saying when the door opens and reveals the girl?
I tried to calm myself but nothing worked, I just took a deep breath and when the door opened, I let it go.
Layla stood there looking confused that I was here, I gave her a soft smile and handed her the milkshake.
"Hey Layla..."
I was trying to cover up my anxiety that was flowing through my veins faster than my blood, Layla smiled back and waved.
Kathryn wasn't there which was what confused me, they were like best friends I guess.
"Come inside, it looks weird to stay here."
Layla walked past the door and allowed me to enter her home, I closed the door and followed her to the living room.
I haven't really forgotten how this place looked like considering I was always over at her house, she looked at me with an uneasy look.
"I apologize, I was immature and petty. I didn't want our friendship to end and I coped with it the wrong way."
Layla explained herself with tears shimmering in her eyes, she always looked so pretty whenever she cried.
I was always jealous of that if I was honest, I never told her that though.
"It's alright, I would've done the same thing if I wasn't afraid Instagram would block me."
We both laughed and looked at each other, tears streamed down her cheeks, falling on to the ground.
She wiped them quickly as she looked away from me with a sigh, her lips quivered.
Out of instinct, I pulled her into a tight hug and rubbed her back, she sobbed into my shoulder with sorrow.
I started crying a little bit as well, in my heart and in my head I needed to fix this.
A friendship is a bond that could mend so easily with the correct words but could be broken just as fast with the incorrect actions.
My mom told me that, I took it to the heart as I tried figuring out what I would be able to do.
" I don't normally like giving people second chances but you weren't just anyone, you were my best friend. "
I said as we pulled away from the hug, she nodded and took out her pinky.
I wrapped my pinky around hers and pulled her into one more hug before saying goodbye and leaving her home.
This could either end well or end terribly bad but I'm willing to wait to see how this played out, that's how friendships were supposed to work.
No matter how bad things get, you both have to be willing to work it out til the last breath.
I walked into my house and walked upstairs to find Jaden asleep on my bed, I turned the AC on and closed the blinds along with the curtains.
I took my sneakers off and changed into my pajamas, I laid beside Jaden and covered the both of us with my fuzzy quilt.
I was proud of how this day turned out, I wasn't expecting Layla to actually be willing to work this out but I'm glad she did.
Today wasn't so bad, thank goodness because I wasn't so sure how I would be able to handle it if it did turn out bad.
Anyways, enough of me rambling.
I closed my eyes and gave myself up to sleep, it was something I could do so easily but it was always so difficult.
