Nothing is wrong
Not tonight
Of course there is
Always something to worry about
But tonight that was just
A water droplet
From my shower
Not a tear
I promise
Tonight
I am okay
No tears
No pain
I'm actually okay
Genuinely
Truly
Actually okay
Thank you though
Thank you for caring
It's been a long time
Since someone
Didn't give me the option
To opt out of not being okay
You see
I'm rarely asked things like
"Are you okay?"
In fact
When I am asked
It's always phrased
In a way
That I can
Just barely opt out of
"Are you okay?"
"Yes"
"How're you doing?"
"Good"
"Is anything wrong?"
"No"
It's not that people don't care about me
People do
It's just that I don't show
My emotions much
So people don't ask
If I'm okay
And if they do ask
They ask timidly
Almost as if
They're afraid that I'll be okay
So thank you
Thank you for asking me
Boldly
Blatantly
And without hesitation
If I was okay
It turns out
I didn't actually need to hear
"hey what's wrong"
Tonight
But nevertheless
I thank you for loving me
And I thank you for loving me
Enough to demand an honest answer
To "Hey what's wrong?"
