After what was the first greatest birthday heist of their time, the children of Helgrim Mansion became the most insufferable group of best friends the world has ever seen.

Insufferable is an understatement.

Lucifer is a young hurricane control freak.

Will is an anxiety-riddled meltdown waiting to happen.

Angel, when he's not scheming and pulling pranks, is the distraction from hell.

Nya is a walking ballon of mystery, bad attitude, and 'i told you so's'.

And no matter how many fights break out between them, the staff of Helgrim Mansion are unable to pull the four of them apart for less than a couple of hours. Even Macy Helgrim, who is an ever-looming tyrant, finds that her presence is less alarming to the kids every passing day. Macy is slowly becoming more and more of a storytime ghost, a myth in their childhood adventure, and she's surprisingly okay with that. It's time to give up the spotlight... perhaps just not yet.

"I am bored," Angel hisses one afternoon as he drapes himself across Lucifer's bed.

"You're always fucking bored," Lucifer returns. The devil sits at his desk working through one of his school books and hasn't moved in over two hours. The others come in and out of his room, now deemed 'their' room, but the devil remains like furniture. "Why don't you do your homework." Because the children always have homework, all except Will who is constantly pulled away by his father, only to return with broader shoulders and faster legs and awful bruises across his entire body.

Lucifer and Angel never ask about the bruises. Nya throws a fit whenever Will returns and they always have to stop her from trying to stand up to Dexter Reed, the resident psychopath. Dexter Reed is one psychotic break away from killing everyone, but that's neither here nor there.

Back in their room, instead of an intelligent reply, Angel simply grabs at the once pristine bedsheets, rolls himself inside like a burrito, then begins screaming into the fabric for attention. Lucifer covers his ears instantly. Will, who was once fast sleep in the wide chair in the corner of the room, erupts awake like he'd had a nightmare. The nightmare was currently howling under the green cover's of Helgrims bed, which Lucifer has made a point to everyone that they are not allowed on. They never listen, not even Will.

Lucifer and Will both try to yell at Angel to stop, but when nothing works, they both leap atop the bed and work together to unroll the younger boy from the sheets. It's a loud and messy process, and by the end, Lucifer is yelling at Will and Angel is cackling like a mad man, muffled by the sheets. The boys are drawn to chaos like moths to firelight.

Chaos itself walks in shortly after.

"What are you doing," the mechanical phone voice makes them stop as Nya lets herself in and doesn't bother with niceties. She's still a walking enigma to the boys and they can't help but be drawn to her when they hear her come in.

Will continues to hold Angel's squirming form under the covers, Lucifer works to unwrap the tangled edges of his bedsheets, which is difficult when Angel works feverishly against them. "Angel," Lucy replies to Nya as he works, "is a screaming bloody nuance who is no longer allowed in this room!"

"Go to hell Helgrim!" Comes muffled from under the sheets.

"If you're here, then I'm already In it!"

In the beginning, Nya would have just stood by and watched, but it had been over a month since their first encounter with each other, and since then, it turned out that Nya was just as much their leader as Lucifer. Maybe more so because Nya was a stubborn, sassy little thing, who wasn't nearly as innocent as she looked, and the others liked it that way, more than they could ever know. These four were like magnets, not even Nya was strong enough to fight the pulling attraction.
