"What is de' Unspoken?"

THE CLASS WAS silent as we watched Miss Almulese who took a seat at her front desk, her leg crossed over the other, swinging back and forth, whilst her long floral dress grazed her ankles.

As always, she had her signature dog by her side. His face lay nestled on the table, puppy eyes shifting around the classroom, barely showing as it sat on the chair behind the desk.

I was trying to get myself back in the mood to learn.

After yesterday and all the trouble and confusion that came with it, I had spent the whole morning trying not to seem too bothered by it, or too shaken, but my eyes involuntarily traveled around the hallways searching for a glimpse of that black coat as I headed for our normal morning classes.

I wasn't even able to keep my head in the conversation Claire and David were juggling along.

That had been nearly 7hrs ago.

Since then, we had done our morning classes and had already eaten our lunch. Now, was the final class of the day for the week.

Afternoon classes, also known as our red-color classes were now in full swing. My eyes trailed up from the prime to the words one of the male students, Koran, had written down on behalf of Miss Almulese across the chalkboard.

'WORD'S UNSPOKEN'

It read.

If I recall, that was the second form of magic Miss Alumese had explained about it.

I leaned forward, leaning over my desk, thinking about what the lesson was about to offer. Anything to get over the anxious feeling I've been having all night and all through the better half of the day.

Nope, this time around I had a reason to look forward.

I just needed one more clue, one more demonstration to confirm what Raskei and Harvest had indirectly stated.

That I was unspoken.

This would match what Miss Akhana Amir had said. About not allowing any humans on the island.

"Before we begin with the lesson," Miss Almulese began her heavy gaze gliding around the room, "There be somet'ing dat needs to be said."

Her gaze paused on a student before getting up to her feet-

"There be one magic, one body of water, me Likkle one's, dat can be shaped in countless ways due to human greed, passion, and more. Light and Darkness stand as equals, but love alone elevates one. The light, it be stronger for it holds trust and love to uplift and heal. Yet, darkness consumes from within. In dis' class, we'll stick to de' fundamentals, for that's what you can manage," she grunted.

"Words' Spoken, it be a tongue. It could start from de' English alphabet, or stretch far back to de' days of old Latin, ancient Greek, Arabic, and Scandinavian. It weaves tales of poetry, akin to spells, and de' force within, from a simple red magic wielder to a seasoned master. Most of you will never be able to achieve advanced spells such as if your dilect was a curser like Raskei Oberoi."

At this, I timidly raised a hand.

In a second all eyes were on me, including Miss Almulese who seemed rather surprised that I was asking a question.

She paused a strange glint in her but accepting my plea. Giving me the floor, she walked up to me and my shaky hands had made it a mandate to have me looking nervous in front of the other students.
