Krishn with his tactics entered vidharbha. He got to know that rukmini went to visit the temple. So along with balram he left for the temple. Ram and Anirudh were standing outside the province of vidharbha with their armies ready for any sorts of war.
Krishna saw, near the temple, Rukmini, the best of beauties, like unto the burning flame of fire, as if she were the goddess of illusions descended on earth, or the goddess earth herself coming out of the nether region, or the very goddess Shri (the goddess of prosperity) the foremost of damsels, gentle like the rays of the moon, and separated from her lotus, coming down on earth as his wife. That damsel of dark-blue hue and large eyes, Rukmini, was seated on a car. And though the gods even could not see her with their mind Krishna could see her.
Seeing the beautiful Rukmini, the foremost of damsels, clad in a pink raiment, matchless in the world at that time for her beauty, fame and grace Krishna's desire grew powerful like fire to which clarified butter is offered and his mind was attracted by her. Thereupon consulting with balram before the Vrishnis he made up his mind for stealing her away.
Thereupon as soon as Rukmini came out of the temple after performing the puja, krishn assailed all her bodyguards and took her away by force to his own rath..
Lifting the princess onto His chariot, whose flag bore the emblem of Garuḍa, krishn drove back the circle of kings. With Balarām in the lead, He slowly exited, like a lion removing his prey from the midst of jackals.
