The next day my mom was making preparations for Rick Collins to visit. He unfortunately was going to stay for about a week.
My father did tell Jane and Lyddia the morning of the night I couldn't sleep but I was the only one who knew his true intentions.

At dinner time he arrived. He was a scrawny short little man with coal colored hair that was super curly. He was wearing very pressed clothes and had on a pristine pair of shiny shoes. His voice also sounded very rehearsed whether he intended it to be or not.
He shook all of our hands and mom invited him to sit down for dinner.
All throughout the meal Lyddia was texting under the table and Jane was pretending to listen. My mother on the other hand didn't know when to shut up and my father and I remain polite but silent.

"What excellent boiled potatoes" he said awkwardly

"Why thank you Rick" my mother smiled

"So I'm like really confused what do you do for work?" Lyddia asked out of boredom

"I'm the manager of Collins Computer Company. Of course I can't take all the credit. The CEO Mrs. Catherine DeBourgh is the true heard of the show" he continued to talk about his boss with great gratitude as if he were being secretly watched by her henchman. Finally the dinner came to an end and he left after spending another hour talking about the joys of coding (I mean do what you want Rick, it's just I don't really care)

"Dad" I asked

"Yes, Ellie?"

"Is he coming again tomorrow?" I asked scared. My father slightly nodded and I went upstairs in disappointment.
The next day thankfully Charles invited me and Jane over to Netherfield to help plan the party.

"And we have the DJ over here and the caterers up against this wall" Caroline said pointing everything out in the open living room. She had her dark hair up in a high ponytail, I guess she's really serious about parties

"Now, who did you call? Carmine's or Club 18?" Caroline asked walking over to Charles

"I didn't call either of them, I thought we were gonna call the Basil Leaf?!"

"Charles, your going to ruin my-uh-our party!" Caroline and Charles kept arguing. Soon she stormed off "I have to go text Chelsea and tell her to cancel coming in!"

"Now I've ruined our party" Charles said walking over to the kitchen table. Jane sat next to him and put her arms around him she added "you're doing fine, I'm sure it will all work out, you still have a few days"

I suddenly noticed that someone was missing

"Hey where's Darcy?" I asked

"Oh he's gone for a couple days to visit his little sister" Charles said sitting up

"I didn't know he had a sister" Jane said

"Yeah she lives back home with a live in nanny or something" Charles said pulling something up on his phone

"Is she really that much younger? I asked. Darcy was Jane's age and she was 23

"No I guess, she's 15 but I mean you still kinda need an adult to look out for you at that age" Charles said standing up and answering the phone in another room

"Hmm" I mumbled moving to where Charles was next to Jane. Just then Caroline walked back in

"Did he finally decide on a DJ? We had lots of applicatio-"

"I think he's talking to a caterer" Jane said

"Oh, well that's some progress" she said flipping her hair

"Hey, what exactly are we supposed to wear?" I asked. It hadn't really crossed my mind

"Oh fancy, heels, a dress, the whole shabang. Treat it like prom dress shopping but better"

A couple days later I was at work when Jane called. It had been a super slow day but better since Lottie was back, but she still wasn't completely better.

"How about we go look for something to wear to the party?"

"I don't know-" I began

"Go" Mrs Lucas said from behind the counter. I grinned.

We went through lots of shops and boutiques and Jane had found things at every store. However I hadn't found anything.

"This is the last one, I promise Ellie" Jane said as she opened the door to a cute little shop. She picked out a blue dress that flowed out and had a halter neck. It was so pretty on her.

"I think that's the one" I said to Jane as the lady was adjusting it.

"Really?" She asked holding her hands to her face

"Really" i assured her.

"Now your turn" she smirked

"Oh no, I give up" I said sitting back in a chair

"I think I have the thing just for you" the lady said "hold on a minute"

I put the dress on.

"Ellie Bennett you are buying this dress right now" Jane said rushing up to me. And though my bank account cried...I bought it

Hey y'all. Ok so I know its kinda short but I'm in a dilemma. The next section is the ball so...I can either make one super long chapter and it won't be up until the weekend or I can make two short ones and one part be up tomorrow. I'm leaning towards the really long one just because I want to keep it together but you pick. Also yes... I will tell you what the dress looks like in the next chapter..I found it on Pinterest 😂 anyway I still can't believe how many reads this story has gotten. Thank you so much. Love you💜💛💜💛💜💛-Eli
