Nova heard Captain Chromium call out an order to Smokescreen. Blacklight had illuminated her hiding spot, so she had started to climb towards the window to escape. This was all going horribly wrong. Stupid council. They ruined everything.
Nova froze as smoke started to fill up the ceiling. She couldn't see anything. She still had her mask, though. She could still breathe.
Then smoke started to work it's way into the metal. Nova coughed. Every time she breathed, smoke would go through her lungs, making it harder and harder to breathe. Her chest hurt as she tried to get more air. Her arms felt weak. She couldn't hold herself up much longer. One arm slipped, leaving Nova dangling from a beam.
Another fit of coughing shook her, and her hand began to slip. "No, don't," she muttered, her words slurred. The smoke around her began to dim, and as she fell from the ceiling, she blacked out.
