"Miss me?" Jayon's voice sends chills through me even through the phone. I blush, turning my phone volume all the way up.

"You called," I say, sounding surprised. I made sure to memorize his number immediately.

"Why wouldn't I?" He asks. I hear the sounds of plates hitting against each-other in the background.

"Well it's almost 2 in the morning," I tell him. "I could have been asleep,"

"But you're not so," I hear him grin.

Adrian catches up with me, nosily butting into the conversation. I see him make a face at me before he asks, "Whose that? Your boyfriend?"

"Something like that," I block the phone speaker.

"Dj?" I hear Jayon say.

"You shouldn't be on the phone with your boyfriend. We're busy," Adrian lowers his voice to make it seem like he was older. I noticed my hand wasn't blocking the speaker fully so Jayon could have heard him loud and clear.

"The fuck?" Jayon's voice escalates through the phone.

"Jayon it's not like that, he's my little brothers friend. He's only 14," I try to explain myself while shooing Adrian away.

"I'm 18 bitch," Adrian begins to laugh obnoxiously. I hang up the phone while attempting to stuff it in my pocket, kicking the side of Adrian's leg. He grabs it in pain, limping for the rest of the walk.

"You're irritating," I tell him not worried about the damage I caused to his leg. "Now he's gonna think I'm cheating on him,"

"You didn't say he was fully your boyfriend," Adrian states, showing the pain he was in from his facial expressions. "And you hung up on him, so now he's REALLY gonna think you're cheating,"

My eyes widen at the thought. I didn't mean to hang up on him, but regardless Adrian was right. I didn't say he was fully my boyfriend because I wasn't sure what we were right now. I just knew I didn't want him thinking I was messing with other dudes. I quickly dig into my pockets once again to grab my phone, speedily dialing Jayon's number.

He answers after the first beep. It was silent though—like he was waiting for me to say hello before he did.

"Hello? Jayon?" I finally speak up. "I'm sorry,"

"Who are you with Dj?" He asks me.

"I'm with my little brothers friend. I told you, he's only 14–he was kidding," I try to explain.

Adrian looks at me, wiping off his shirt.

"Your little brother's friend huh.." he presses. I could tell he was having a hard time believing me and honestly I didn't blame him. This situation was strange from his perspective. He was probably confused on why I'd be with my little brother's friend at this time of night in the first place.

"Lemme talk to him," Adrian reaches for my phone, instantly grabbing it. He holds it tight against his ears, saying "Hello," with his normal voice.

"Whose this?" I hear Jayon ask.

"It's Adrian. I'm Dj's little brothers friend. But yeah, me and her brother are the same age. Nothing's funny going on between me and her...she would never," Adrian tells him. I throw him a smile while he smirks back at me, continuing to walk forward. "We were just-"
A car zips by us out of no where releasing a loud honk that scares the both of us. Right as Adrian was about to explain to Jayon what had been going on, he dropped my phone into a small water stream near the sidewalk.

I didn't have a case on it or anything so I accepted the fact that my phone was done for, or at least it would be the moment I got a chance to dry it properly.

It took everything in me not to scream when I picked it up, revealing my broken reflection. Now that was what I didn't want to accept. I could handle water damage but screen shattering damage? No way.

"Dj.." Adrian looks at me pitifully, he begins to fumble with his hands. "I fuck up everything, I'm so sorry," he says to me.

"You don't have to say sorry Adrian," I tell him, looking back into my broken phone. "Things happen," I tell him.

The phone call between me and Jayon had ended horribly. Now he was really going to be confused.

"Here, you can use mines to talk to your..guy," he fumbles for words. He reaches in his pocket to hand me his phone and I smile. "Really?" I ask.

"Yeah, this is kind of my fault despite you saying it isn't Dj. Just talk to him, tell him what's going on. Maybe he can help us," Adrian tells me.

I put my phone back into my pocket and sigh. I wouldn't even know how to explain to my Mom how it had ended up like that. I'd never had an accident with anything I owned. She probably would never trust me with a phone again if she knew the truth.

The good thing about it was that I was supposed to be getting an upgrade for my birthday, but now she would have to pay extra for the damages. I hated being the type of child that constantly took away from her when I knew there were bigger things she had to worry about. She was a single parent, and even though she had an excellent job at a hospital she deserved to have money she could keep for herself.

I dial Jayon's number on Adrian's phone, listening to the ring repeatedly. It goes to voicemail and I start to think he wouldn't answer because it was a different number trying to reach him. He didn't look like the type to pickup random phone calls anyway.

My screen was shattered, but I realized it was still able to ring. I powered it back on after the horrible damage it suffered and it actually surprised me by showing my lock screen. The phone call it was displaying was from Jayon, I handed back Adrian his phone while attempting to answer mine.

"Jayon?" I try to raise the volume of my voice. I couldn't put my phone to my ear now because the speaker part of my phone was completely cracked.

"Text me," I hear him say before he hangs up.

My attitude took a serious toll after he hung up on me. I had went through all of that to talk to him only for him to completely disown me. He didn't even understand what was going on and still decided that he was going to be irritated with me. Then, here he goes again giving me orders. There was no way I was going to text him even if my phone allowed me too.
