*Jayon's POV*

Watching Dj sleep had to be the most therapeutic feeling for me. She always looked so calm, but I could tell from whatever she dreamt about that she never slept as peaceful as she looked.

I still hadn't told her about what my mom had told me earlier. It wasn't really the time, since we had just got into it at her school over that lame ass dude. Plus, she was still bothered from the fact that her mom kicked her out, and I knew she missed her family. She just wouldn't tell me that.

Either way, I tried to keep it from her all day. But now was the time she needed to know. If I didn't say anything about it, Jasmine would. Even my mother would. They didn't talk to her a lot but I know my mother would be sure to talk to her about that.

I start to rub on her nose to wake her up a bit. She squints her eyes before opening them. "I hate when you do that,"

"I know," I say. She had her legs across my lap, we'd been on the couch since I brought her home from school. "You hungry? You haven't ate all day,"

"Cus' I've been sleeping," she tells me. "I'll make cereal later," she says tiredly.

"Later? It's already 8," I grin.

"Jayon," she says. I could tell I was starting to annoy her. "Please hush,"

I roll my eyes. It's silent for a while until she grabs my hand. "What's wrong?"

"Um," I pause. "My mom wants to move,"

"Oh, to what neighborhood?"

I smirk. "Out of the state,"

Her face falls. The hold she had on my hand recedes. "You're joking right?"

"Nah."

"Jayon, please tell me this is a joke,"

"Baby, relax. I told her I wasn't leaving you."

Her mouth starts to quiver. She turns her body towards me completely, laying her head on my chest. "She's your mom Jayon."

"Yeah but-"

"No, there's no but. She's your mother."

"What are you saying? You want me to leave?" I ask, starting to feel nauseous from the conversation.

"No Jayon, no of course I don't. But I don't wanna be the reason why you choose to stay here,"

"Dj I met you here. I met you here for a reason."

"You don't even know where she wants to move. I bet you completely shut it down,"

"Why the hell do you care? You were almost about to cry when I said she wanted to move,"

"Because it was a shock Jayon! I didn't expect to hear that, you know that."

"Yeah I know but now you're acting like I should go. Which one is it?"

"You shouldn't be asking me that Jayon. Honestly how do you feel about living here?"

"That doesn't matter. All the negative feelings go away when I'm with you. I can't leave you here."

"It does matter! It matters Jayon."

"Why Dj?"

"Because if it was me, I would go," she says quietly. I could tell she was trying to hold back tears. "I hate it here Jayon. I love you so much, but if I had the opportunity to go I would. I wouldn't hold you back from escaping this city, no matter how bad I want too. That's selfish, and you know I'm not selfish. I want you to be happy,"

"That's you Dj! You would leave me here but I wouldn't leave you here. We're 2 different people so stop bruh. I'm happy here with you," I say. The topic was getting too emotional for me. I didn't wanna leave Dj, I wasn't going too, no matter how much I hated Vegas.

"Why do you have to be so stubborn? The life you could have in another state should excite you Jayon,"

"Nothing excites me like you do, and that's on God."

"Don't put things on God,"

"Sorry, it's true though. What's the point of experiencing life if the person you love isn't there to explore it with you?" I ask her, rubbing her legs softly.

"You're right, were definitely 2 different people," Dj grins. "Because I don't mind experiencing anything by myself."

"That's because you've been single too long. You don't need anyone like I do. I hate being alone,"

"You're not alone, you'll never be," She assures, holding onto my torso tightly.

"I admire your independence," I tell her, leaning my head on hers.

"I admire you," she tells me.

"I love you,"

"I love you more, we'll figure everything out," she says.

"There's nothing to figure out. I told you what I'm gonna do,"

"Jayon, you have to think. I'm not letting you make a decision like this so quickly. You need time,"

"I don't need shit,"

"Stop cussing at me," she lowers her voice, making me laugh.

"My bad. I don't need 'anything',"

"I'll be talking to your mother about this tomorrow. I wanna know where she's thinking to move,"

"Nah, don't ask her anything."

"Jayon-"

"I'm for real. Don't say nothing to her,"

She sighs. "Fine. What if she says something to me about it first though? I mean, we don't talk much but I'm sure that's something she'd want me to know,"

It was crazy how much alike we thought sometimes.

"Well...then talk to her. Just don't bring it up,"

"Whatever Jayon,"

"Kiss me," I tell her.

She puckers her lips childishly, leaving a kiss on my cheek. "Goodnight," she says getting up.

"You say that like you won't be sleeping in my bed tonight. Don't worry, Imma get the kiss I want," I say, watching her walk up the stairs. She laughed a bit, shaking her head.

She knew it was true though.

*Dj's POV*

For some reason I couldn't fall back to sleep. Jayon did though. It was upsetting to know he might have had to leave, but good at the same time. He didn't realize it, but he didn't have a future here. I didn't even have a future here. I planned on leaving Vegas after graduation, but I wanted to leave with him. Life worked in mysterious ways, I knew that. I knew that from the moment I locked eyes with him.

But I learned that if you loved something you should let it go, and if it comes back it was meant to be. This was a test for me, a hard one at that, and I had to prepare myself for the heartache I was about to endure.
