*Dj's POV*

By the time me and my mother had brought Amber to the hospital she was awake. Her parents were there, and her father looked furious. I assumed this was his first time figuring out Amber was pregnant. He didn't even stand close to us while we all waited for her news to come out, he didn't say a word to me or my mother for bringing her there either.

"Again, Cherrelle thank you," Betha had spoken. She looked anxious but calm at the same time.

"No problem. I know you would have done the same thing for Dj," my mom told her. They smiled at each other, and again it was silent, but of course not completely silent. Hospitals were never silent. If there wasn't children screaming or crying from a distance, then it wasn't a hospital.

A doctor came out, looking at us unsurely. He wasn't as friendly as the other doctor we all were used too at North Vista. I'm not sure which hospital we were at but the atmosphere seemed more disheartening.

"I need the parent or parents of Amber," he spoke, pulling off his large glasses. His face had many wrinkles but he didn't look too old.

"Right here," her father rushed to him quicker than Ambers mom did.

"Well, she's had a miscarriage. We've put her on medicine to ease up the pain she was experiencing and her vomiting should die down. She's awake now, if either of you wanted to see her. She understands that she's lost the baby as well. She has the option to stay over night for further examination," the doctor said.

Everyone's faces dropped. But for all different reasons.

I couldn't imagine how Ambers parents could have been feeling about it, and my mother just looked upset. I was upset too, but relieved at the same time. I never did want Amber to keep a baby she didn't give consent too. It was demoralizing.

I also didn't want her to lose the baby because she had grown to care about it so much. Despite my feelings about her situation she always made it clear that that was what she wanted.

Her father looked lost for words. He nodded his head, looked at Betha disappointingly, and strayed away from all of us without another word.

"Carl," Betha spoke lowly, but he didn't turn around.

"Betha, I think you need to go in there with Amber. I'm sure your the person she needs to see right now. You and Carl can talk later, right now all that matters is your daughter," my mom told her, stepping close to her to rub her shoulders for reassurance.

"You're right," she said weakly. I could tell she had ran out of tears, still her heart couldn't take any more hurt. Just like mines.

Betha calmly walked inside of the room where Amber lay, and shut the door slowly. I tried to get a quick glimpse of how she looked but I couldn't see. I tried to walk in behind her but the doctor gently pushed my shoulder. "Only parents," he said coldly.

"I'm her best friend, she needs to see me," I started.

"I understand that but there cannot be any friends in there. Only parents,"

My mom smacked her lips annoyingly. "We were the ones that brought her here in the first place. We deserve to see her,"

The doctor looked at us helplessly. He put his glasses back on and shook his head. "I'm sorry," he told us before he walked away.

"Let's go Deej," my mom said. I knew she felt bad about me not being able to see Amber but it was late. Deon was still at Jayon's and she was tired. I understood that.

I looked at the door Amber had been behind one last time before we both left, catching Carl sitting on the sidewalk in front of the hospital with a cigarette between his fingers.
