For the rest of the day I had thought about Jayon. It was weird because I was expecting a text or a call from him the moment I got home but I guess I was expecting too much. He was really leaving.

When I picked up my phone I seen I received a message from who I was assuming was Carmen because of all the extra smiley faces in the text. It read:

Hey Dj! :) Me and Davis decided that we were  gonna link at his house to start the project early :) I'll send you the address in a bit, hopefully it's not too far from you!

I closed the message in annoyance. I didn't even have a car so how was I suppose to get to that man's house? I didn't even want to start the project early. We had 2 weeks for God's sake. I was already starting to regret this collaboration idea. I would have been better off working by myself.

My mother was home surprisingly. She was on the couch when I got home earlier, watching her infamous show. Love and Hip Hop.

The next message I received was still from Carmen, showing me where Davis lived. When I clicked on it it showed me that I was about 7 minutes away from his house, which was weird because I didn't expect him to live so close to me.

"Mom!" I yelled, hoping she heard me.

"What!" She responded. "You know I'm watching my show Dj. Don't start all that yelling, come down here and talk normally,"

I sighed before making my way down the stairs. I was surprised Deon hadn't been trying to follow me down there to be nosey. Then it hit me that he was probably still at school.

"I need a ride to my partners house. We're starting some project for my History class. He's only 7 minutes away,"

"He? Who is this He?" She asked quickly.

"Mom, his name is Davis but there's a girl named Carmen there too. I'm pretty sure they're together. They're both my partners but it's his house which is why I said that,"

"Oh, oh alright. How long you gone be over there? Because I'm not keeping my show on paused for long to come pick you up later,"

"Ma I'll ask Amber to get me. You won't have to worry about missing your show,"

"Okay girl," she said standing to her feet. "How you been feeling?" She asked.

"About?"

"You know Dj, your father and Jayon,"

"I'm fine Mom, seriously," I lied.

"Well when you wanna be honest you can talk to me. He went to stay with some of his family that lives out here," she said grabbing her purse. "Gone head," she opened the door to watch me walk out of it.

I ignored her comment and proceeded to jump in the front seat of the car. I put in Davis' address and waited patiently for her to get in. I turned the radio on to avoid any conversation with her and rolled the windows down because it was a bit hot in the car. We had leather seats so they attracted a lot more sunlight than usual.

*Jayon's POV*

"Shit, my boy Jayon really outta here," Derek spoke, blowing smoke from his nose.

"Yeah nigga. I'll visit though. Don't get all weird about it,"

"You gone visit me or you gone visit yo girl?" He laughed.

He'd been here with me most of the day helping us get things into the U-Haul. By this time everything was packed and ready to go, now we were just waiting for our Mom to get home. She said she was taking some of my grandma's things out of the storage. It didn't matter though because we weren't leaving till the early morning.
