Humans were just beginning to return to the city. It had been two weeks and just as Connor had predicted, an official move back into the city was happening in 3 days. You and Connor had gone back to normal relations a few days after the walk incident.

You both often went out for walks together. You both liked looking around the city. You had been going out more and more often now because the humans were returning. You only had a few chances left to go out without being noticed all that much.

Nobody would be looking at you two...if it wasn't for the fact that Connor was an android. Not everyone was exactly thrilled with the newly passed laws for androids. They were put into action a few days before some of the shop owners and more eager residents of the city were allowed back into the city.

Markus had gone to the capital to see President Warren and speak with her. To all of the android's luck, they actually came to an agreement with the terms of acknowledgment of the androids rather quickly. President Warren sometimes didn't change her mind easily, but it seemed she had made an exception this time.

You were glad people were coming back so you could stop sitting on your ass all day, but you also had grown accustomed to the peace and the quiet that had settled over the city for those two seemingly short weeks. The days had seemed to drag on at first, but now that it was coming to an end, it seemed like it flew by just as fast as ever.

You remembered when you used to feel like that about summer vacation when you were growing up. On the less busy summers, the days always seemed to drag on without much excitement, but when school came around again, it seemed like it had all gone a little too fast. And yet, no matter how it may have seemed, all of the seconds, minutes, and hours were counted exactly the same. Not one day was longer than the next. Nothing ever changed. It was a topic that was very strange to consider if you thought about it long enough.

You were out on your own. Connor was with Hank and you'd said that you didn't feel like visiting today. You were out by the shores of the river. You sat on the bench there, alone. The breeze blew gently around you and you just stared at the rippling water ahead of you.

"Miss?" You turned as you heard a voice behind you. You saw a young man there. "Sorry to bother you, I was just curious." He said.

"Eh, got nothing better to do today. I don't mind." You replied. He walked over.

"May I?" You nodded. He sat down and the two of you stayed there. "Why are you out here alone?" He asked.

"I didn't feel like going with a friend of mine to visit my police partner. I wanted some time alone. I spend time with him a lot anyway."

"Wait...are you two the couple that goes for walks all the time?" He asked. You looked over at him.

"Uh...yeah?" You said, confused to why he knew this.

"Oh, uh, sorry if that sounded creepy. I was just curious. You see, I live down the street. I've just noticed that you two are out a lot." He said. You nodded, feeling more relaxed with him again.

"So, why did you come back early?" You asked.

"Oh, uh, I work at one of the local shops and since some other people wanted to get back to their stores I just kinda figured it would be best to get back before the mob, you know?" He explained.

"Yeah, I get that."

"Must've been quiet here in the city." He said.

"Yeah, but it was busy at New Jericho. Markus was always working with all of his people." You told him.

"I guess that would be true, heh. With all the renovations and everything." He agreed. "Oh, uh, hey I never introduced myself. I'm Ian Nelson." He said, offering his hand to you. You smiled.

"(Y/n) (L/n)," You replied, shaking his hand. He looked a little confused by that. You wondered why he was confused, but you pushed it aside.

"So, what store do you work at?"

"Oh, uh, just a local drug store." He replied.

"Heh, sounds exciting." You said. He chuckled.

"Yeah, uh, it can get kinda dull. I'm trying to work my way out of it, but it's a lot harder these days." He said. You nodded.

"Yeah, sorry about that." You said.

"So, you're a cop? You mentioned a police partner."

"Oh, yeah. I'm a Lieutenant at the DPD."

"Lieutenant?" He asked.

"Yeah. Why is that surprising?" You asked.

"I just didn't think an android would have that position." He said.

"Android? What makes you think I'm an android?" You asked. He looked surprised.

"Oh! You're human? Oh, jeez, I'm sorry. I just thought since your boyfriend is an android that you would be-"

"Whoa, wait. Connor isn't my boyfriend." You said.

"He isn't?" He asked.

"No." You replied.

"Oh. You two just seem so close."

"We're just friends. He's living with me because he doesn't have many house options." You explained.

"Oh, well, sorry about that."

"No, I guess...I guess I can see where you're coming from." You replied.

"You two seem like really great friends." He said.

"I wouldn't say we're great friends. He's just a friend." You explained.

"He seems to really care about you though." You paused. You sighed.

"Yeah, I know. It's...complicated." You explained. "I would rather avoid that topic."

"Well, I was just curious. I'll see you around then." Ian said, getting up.

"Yeah, see ya, Ian." You replied and he left. You continued to look out at the water. About 12 minutes later, you heard another voice.

"So this is where you've been." You smiled a little.

"Hey, Connor."

"I went home and found that you weren't there so I came to find you. I followed your footprint's heat signature here." You raised an eyebrow at him. "Sorry, I didn't mean it to sound like that..." You chuckled a little.

"It's fine, Connor." He sat down next to you and the two of you sat there in silence. You kept looking out at the water.

"May I ask you a question, (Y/n)?"

"Don't you always have a question for me?" You said with a grin. He smiled a little.

"I was curious why you didn't come to visit Lieutenant Anderson with me." You shrugged.

"Didn't feel like being in company." You answered plainly.

"Well, I'd like you to know that you were missed." He said. You chuckled.

"Thanks, Connor. Glad to hear that."

"You are?" He asked. You thought about it and smiled.

"Yeah, I really am."
